We finished assembling the nursery furniture this afternoon, which entailed completing the wardrobe and the 4x4 cube shelves. We were really surprised to see that the wardrobe and changing table both had blue back boards rather than white. The color fits really well in the room, so we are very happy with that. Even the drawer bottom was blue!
The shelves are identical to the set that are in Lisa's office and she is very happy with them. Ikea has a lot of different options for each cube, you can leave them open as they are now or you can get cupboard doors/drawers/boxes to go into any of the cubes. We are sticking with leaving them open for now, but we might get a couple of the doors/drawers in the future.
The only thing that we could not finish was the top of the changing table, unfortunately the box was missing a board, so we will have to return to Ikea to get another table top. But otherwise our nursery furniture is complete!
We started to unpack some of the gifts we have already received from our very excited family and friends. I don't think that Lisa and I will have to worry about spoiling the baby... thats what grandparents are for, right? We are definately very grateful for all the generocity!

Some Assembly Required
We have had a busy Sunday today. We started the day by grabbing a zipcar and heading down to IKEA to pick up the start of our nursery furniture. We got there at 9:45am and could not believe that there were hundreds(!) of people already at the store waiting for it to open at 10am. Apparently, there was a crazy sale on bedding (the king size duvets sold out in 7 minutes!) but we were just there for cribs and changing tables.
After hauling all the boxes up to the nursery (thanks to our downstairs neighbor Harris for helping Lisa carry all the heavy stuff up the stairs... she just can't haul like she used to!) we got to work on the assembly.
Make sure to notice the ducky door pulls! The rest of the photos are here. More to come in the upcoming week!

Who Do I Look Like - Dad or Mom?
There's Your Problem
The bulb on our TV burned out on Sunday night (and Scott is blaming Eric!). Apparently this is a common occurrence and will happen after about 8000 hours of usage on the bulb. Now, we did the math and it works out that we would have to watch TV for 10+ hours / day for the past two years... and it just seems like that is not nearly as much as we use it !
We had to move our little TV from the other room to fill the void until the new bulb arrives (we can't pass the time talking and having fun with each other... thats how we got into this baby business in the first place!) The new bulb should arrive on Saturday. The worst part is that Scott can't play video games with Shannon in the interim... he cries himself to sleep every night.
Its just not the same
